Anna Schmitzberger is an artist, a traveler and a searching soul, who always tried to look
beneath the surface of life. She was born and grew up in Salzburg, Austria, where since early
on she was early taken to many travels to various European countries, and early trained in
various fields of art like painting, dancing, acting and music, through an artistic school
education. She moved to Berlin to study Graphic Design there, and after one year in Rome
where she worked as a Photographer, she became self-employed in the field of Photography.
Through that profession she visited countries such as Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Israel,
Egypt, Marokko, India, Australia, Cuba, Brasil, or Mexico. Today she is living and working
in Vienna, where she also studies Social and Cultural Anthropology. Her artist alter ego
is called „The Piratess“ - who is looking for treasure and is saving the world. As this
character she is working on a book called „Trapped in Freedom“ in which The Piratess is
discovering various meanings of freedom, on a rap album called „Pandora“ and she is
running a blog, interviewing sustainable and innovative businesses and Organisations.
